I am bluntly asking you to consider selling your things. Not all your things, just the pile of untouched “things”.
Luke 12:15 Then he told them, "Be careful to guard yourselves against every kind of greed, because a person's life doesn't consist of the amount of possessions he has."
This same story continues with a man deciding to build a great warehouse and store his “things” when God is heard saying you fool, don’t you realize your life will be demanded back from you this night. Now who will have your things?
Christ often spoke about selling your “things” and giving to the poor. Christ also said to v. 31 “to be less concerned about this life and be MORE concerned about the kingdom. v. 33 Sell your “things” and give the money to the poor. Make yourselves wallets that won’t wear out…
Picture yourself standing before Christ when he asks what you did with all the “things” you had. What will the overwhelming majority of us say?
They’re in the garage, they’re in the self-storage garage, they’re in my closets, in piles and boxes in the attic and well frankly they’re all over the place. They’re in basements, at friend’s houses, yards and garages. You know Jesus, I've got stuff everywhere.
Today little is discussed about giving to the poor. Little is discussed about “storing” treasures in heaven.
I am trying to make this drop dead easy for you to give your money to the poor, but frankly this is just ONE place to do it. The point is, JUST DO IT, anywhere!
WHY, because we are asked to do it, many, many times. Over three hundred times throughout scriptures we are reminded and instructed to care for those who need help.
I am telling you NOTHING will affect you like giving to the poor! It’s a life changer, you’ll see.
This needs to become a life habit, so join me once a month and let’s all start giving out of our abundance.
