Of all people in India, widows have the most difficult lives. They're seen as cursed and blamed for the death of their husbands. Even the shadows they cast are believed to bring bad luck.
One in four shacks in India is occupied by a widow
Older widows struggle to survive. They live off leftovers from the trash and scraps gathered by begging. Young widows with children to care for find prostitution their only option to keep their children alive.
Teen and child widows have the worst fate
Even a child can become a widow. Soon after being forced to wed an old man, her husband dies. Sometimes girls become widows at the age of 12. Their life is fractured and stolen in a moment.
By giving money for widows, you'll provide:
Income-producing items like sewing machines and farm animals, education through vocational and literacy training, winter blankets, water filters, and other essentials
Widows also receive the opportunity to learn of Jesus Christ, who gives them dignity, peace and eternal life.
I met some of these widows during my recent trip to India. One of them asked me to pray for her, because she has no family and lives with pain. She walked with difficulty, using a walking stick, and finally sat down on the ground. One of the brothers took her home on his motorbike.

About Widows
Upon becoming a widow in in some developing nations, a woman is often blamed for her husband's death and enters a life of shame. Burdened with the responsibility to care for her children alone, she is often forced into begging or even prostitution.
You donation will help GFA give widows a means of renewable income, like a sewing machine or farm animals. You'll also help with daily essentials, like blankets and water filters.
This support will be given through the local church, giving widows a chance to learn about the love of Jesus Christ.
