When I heard a representative from Gospel For Asia speak at a church, I sat completely taken in by what he was telling us - Stories of how people born in India have given up everything to travel around their own country telling their own people about Jesus. I heard stories and viewed pictures of those who were beaten, warned not to return to the villages - but they did. Some were murdered, some weren't. Those that could, moved on to the next village. Could I do this? I didn't know. It was explained that a person who grew up in that culture, knew the languages and customs would be able to connect with the people much more effectively than a large foreign, white guy who couldn't even communicate. This is why they would rather we who are able, send our financial assistance to support the locals who grew up there. And, when I learned how much money it took to send one missionary from the US to India (or anywhere else in the world) for a couple of weeks, it was an amount that GFA could use to fund their own people for months if not years!
Sitting in the big, soft pew that morning, I decided I needed to so 'something'. I knew that I was one of the rich the bible talks about. Have I hit it big? No. I had a house. Car. A lot of 'stuff'. I sold the house and some stuff to see what He could do with it - To allow those who have no fear to walk right into a village where they know witchcraft is practiced and the only one who can allow them to live after they die is hated. People are much more likely to listen because the gospel comes from those exactly like themselves. I learned there is something I could do. Help these local men and women to be able to talk to their own. So - I would like to see 10 of the indigenous workers/missionaries receive a new bicycle that will allow them to cover much more ground. We who are here, can bless them to do work there, that we cannot. I've laid myself out, here. Let me know if you would like to help me enable these people. Here's a short video.......
