One addition to my email:
A bike has many parts - all are needed for its proper functioning - so you can donate as little as a spoke, a pedal, a tire, or a whole bike. AND if you prefer, you can also donate anonymously.

Hello friends!
As some of you know, in early 2004 I herniated a disk in my lower back. For nearly two years, I struggled with everyday life activities that we usually take completely for granted - getting dressed, sitting, sleeping, walking any distance, picking up my kids and playing with them...every one of these things caused severe debilitating pain. Additionally, I often wondered and worried about my ability to eventually resume my AF job or to participate in physical exercise of any kind.
In short, the Lord used this time to remove all things in which I had grossly misplaced my life significance. I feel incredibly blessed now to be a husband and father of four phenomenal kids...to be able to hug them and run, hike, or bike with my family.
All that to say, I have always wanted to do a longer bike ride or run, but my injuries kept me from such an event. After many years of recovery for my back, I feel I'm finally in good enough shape for a long, challenging ride - But my desire to do so has shifted away from wholly self-centered reasons.
In that regard, I have signed up for a 100K (62 mile) bike ride taking place just over TWO WEEKS from now (July 8th, yikes!). And after praying about it (and getting my kids' votes - they ride behind me on a tag-along bike or in a trailer on most rides)...we decided to raise money for Gospel for Asia missionaries who have to travel on foot between the many villages that they serve.
We are hoping and praying that 15 missionaries will receive new bikes this summer - bikes that will enable them to share the gospel with so many more people in villages across Asia. Would you consider joining me in the "Wheels for Asia" ride?

Help Missionaries Go Farther, Faster
Many GFA missionaries spend arduous hours walking from one village to another. With a heavy-duty bicycle, a missionary can carry loads of Bibles, or even colleagues, over rough roads and rugged terrain to minister to people in need.
Every $110 you give provides a heavy-duty bicycle to a local missionary and makes them more productive, so they can double or triple the number of people they minister to for the sake of God’s kingdom.
Bicycles are given to GFA missionaries. Bicycles are also given through gift distribution programs to help the poor earn a better living or get to school from far distances. Through these gifts, people experience Christ’s love.
About GFA World
Since 1979, GFA has existed to fulfill one passion: See communities in Asia and Africa discover the same joy, hope and lasting peace we’ve found in Christ.
We serve to equip missionaries to minister throughout Asia. The projects funded through myGFA each play a significant part in helping missionaries serve more effectively and in transforming communities with the love of Christ.
GFA World is dedicated to the most effective and efficient stewardship of resources, according to 1 Corinthians 3:12-14. Contributions to GFA are income tax deductible to the full extent allowed by law. All gift options represent GFA's actual ministry efforts to meet the diverse needs of individuals and communities. GFA World seeks to use contributions raised for a particular ministry in furtherance of that charitable objective, but retains control and discretion over all donated funds to further its overall charitable objectives.
