Lucas Christian Academy emphasizes missions as its foundation. So at a meeting, parents and teachers looked for ways to encourage the students to reach the lost and asked them to read No Longer a Slumdog by K.P. Yohannan.
As the students learned about the desperation children in Asia face, their hearts were deeply impacted.

Another student said, “Seeing these kids, like in the videos that we watched, [say] that no one loved them, that they didn’t know that anyone loved them...that broke my heart for them because how can you live when there’s no love and there’s no hope?”
Cleaning out their piggy banks and pouring their hearts out in prayer to the Lord, they came up with the idea to have a 5K to involve the community in reaching Asia with Christ’s love.
Because of their efforts and prayer, 91 children are now able to receive a full year of education, food, medical care and also experience the love of Jesus through the Child Sponsorship Program.
