The ‘Down Under’ Bridge Marathon is on in Brisbane, Australia again this year.
In August this year Aussies will walk, run, ride a bike for the full 42kms, form a relay team, or walk a part of the trail as a family to raise awareness and funds to help break the poverty cycle that traps the "untouchable" children of India. The event is organized to place more children in Gospel for Asia's Bridge of Hope programs in South Asia.
This year we are aiming to raise funds to place 350 Dalit children in BOH centres for 12 months. Can you help us reach our target? See more at www.thebridge.net.au
A testimony of one of the young walkers.
Ella is 10. She desperately wanted to go to see Pink (American singer-songwriter, musician and actress) for her birthday. She worked really hard and saved up the money for it - $200 in total.
Then, after a chat with her Auntie Liz, who had decided to do the Bridge Marathon charity walk to help raise money for kids and women in need in India, Ella was inspired to do something as well. She came home that very night and announced that she thought it would be a better use of her money to give up the tickets and instead do the charity walk.
So was born, the "Pink" birthday walk. In a nod to Ella's favourite pop star, Ella and her Auntie Liz will wear Pink, listen to Pink as they walk and be generally ‘fabulous’.
When they shared this on Facebook, the response was amazing. People suggested that now they should chip in to buy Ella tickets to see Pink. She was blown away, giggling with disbelief, then a couple of minutes later came out of her room and said "I so want to go to see Pink, but I just know that if I was sold into slavery, I would want somebody to help me. I know they need the money more." Amazing!
In her words: "Thank you guys so much. You are all the best. I just know that I am doing the right thing, and for me it is better to give than to receive and I know it won't kill me if I don't go but these people need it !!!"
If you are happy to donate to this cause, that will rock Ella's world and then some.
Go team Auntie and Niece!

Parents across developing nations struggle to provide for their families. Children grow up illiterate and are taught they are worthless. GFA World turns these situations around for the good with the Child Sponsorship Program, where children are educated and nurtured, and families hear about Jesus. Each child is assigned a sponsor to support him or her through the program.
Some children have yet to receive a sponsor. By supporting unsponsored children, you can allow more children to attend the program as they wait for a sponsor and learn about the love of Christ.
In addition to the Word of God, your support provides nutritious meals, medical care, school uniforms and a quality education for these precious children.
About GFA World
Since 1979, GFA has existed to fulfill one passion: See communities in Asia and Africa discover the same joy, hope and lasting peace we’ve found in Christ.
We serve to equip missionaries to minister throughout Asia. The projects funded through myGFA each play a significant part in helping missionaries serve more effectively and in transforming communities with the love of Christ.
GFA World is dedicated to the most effective and efficient stewardship of resources, according to 1 Corinthians 3:12-14. Contributions to GFA are income tax deductible to the full extent allowed by law. All gift options represent GFA's actual ministry efforts to meet the diverse needs of individuals and communities. GFA World seeks to use contributions raised for a particular ministry in furtherance of that charitable objective, but retains control and discretion over all donated funds to further its overall charitable objectives.
