“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’ Matthew 25:39-41
Imagine yourself working for hours in the beating hot sun without a breath of air to give any relief. Slowly straightening your sore back from hours of bending over your small crop, you walk over to the local pond a quarter of a mile away. You squat next to the small herd of water buffalo already drinking and wading in the water. You scoop up some water into your hands, the smell of the pungent brown stagnate water hits you as you bring it to your mouth but you are so used to it you don’t even realize it anymore. You are grateful to have any water at all to give to your wife and kids. One or more in your family is always suffering from a water borne illness but there is nothing you can do. You have no hope for a change, your gods aren’t listening, and so your only hope is to live to be able to bring in the crop and do it all over again.
This is a very depressing story but it is very true to countless numbers of people. The water they have is a blessing and a curse. It gives them life but also sickness and, especially to younger children, sometimes even death.
I, Cassie C., want to change this story. I want the story to continue by saying that this family now has a water filter, given to them by a local pastor in the area. Their family is now much healthier, but especially, they know that Gods love provided the clean and refreshing water and have now accepted Jesus into their hearts. Their gods didn’t do anything, no matter how much they sacrificed to the statues but they know Jesus cares because He heard their cries and did something about it.
That is why I have decided to bike for BioSand Water Filters. These filters really do make such a difference in people’s lives. The water that the people cook with, clean with, and drink usually will come from a pond that is full of everything you can imagine. Now, the water is 98 percent clean which is a world of a difference better than before.
My goal was for every mile I biked I hoped to get one water filter. I was able to bike 100 miles in two days from September 29 through September 30.
