Message from Vanessa and Briggs
It's triathlon time!!! Briggs and I are in full training mode; biking, running and swimming. Briggs is stronger and faster than ever and looking forward to this year's race with great anticipation. This will be his third triathlon and he is only nine years old! Praise God for giving him health and strength to participate in these challenges.
Briggs is taking on the Chili harvest kids Triathlon in Socorro, NM on August 4th. Because he is a year older the distances he will have to complete have gotten longer. He will swim 100 yards, bike 4K and run 1K!! But that has not slowed him down. He really wants to WIN this year. We have made some changes to increase his speed in the transition area combined with his determination are sure to give him a fighting chance.
I have also taken on a new challenge and will be racing in the Patriot Triathlon in Rio Rancho, NM on September 16th. Everything stayed the same expect the bike!! It increased to 15 miles and is on a very hilly course. Some of you might remember that the bike and I are still becoming friends. However, I have had some coaching from a neighbor and am feeling more confident then in previous years.
Another exciting change is that we have brought on recruits. We are thrilled to have two precious friends joining us. They are another mother, son team and this will be their FIRST triathlon!
Also, Felicity is ready to get in on the action. Still a bit young for a full triathlon, she and her daddy are going to be competing in a Kids run here in Albuquerque. She is enjoying training and runs so fast I really have to work to keep up with her. Oh, how we adore these children.
Your donation this year couldn't be more near to my heart. Every penny will be given to support the street children in Asia. Gospel for Asia is doing work in Asia to provide homes that can be a refuge to the street children of this area.
We recently finished reading the biography of George Muller, an incredible man of God who made his mark on this earth by creating and establishing homes for orphans all the while teaching them about Christ Jesus. His life story greatly impacted all of us. This is our opportunity to make our mark. Together we can greatly impact the lives of vulnerable, desperate children. Helping them to know that they are not alone but have a heavenly Father who loves and cherishes them.

Give a safe haven for vulnerable children
Many cities in developing nations are rife with children who live alone on the streets. These children are vulnerable to kidnappers who sell them into bonded labor and the sex trade. Those who avoid kidnappers fall into gangs, drugs, and alcoholism. They know only distrust and pain; every day is a struggle to survive.
